Ladies of Prodromos
United in Heritage: United in Philanthropy
Our Mission
The Mission of the Ladies of the Kalymnian Beneficial Society of Prodromos is to unite a group of dedicated women in fellowship and service by promoting Kalymnian Heritage through education, preservation, and philanthropic charitable giving.
Our Focus
The Ladies of the Kalymnian Beneficial Society of Prodromos upholds the founding members' vision by promoting the education and preservation of our Hellenic Heritage, as well as the cultural traditions originating from our homeland—Kalymnos, Greece. With a high emphasis on philanthropic efforts in the diaspora community and in Kalymnos, fundraising and charitable giving are at the forefront of our efforts. As a group of dedicated women, we continue to build a foundation for long-term growth and prosperity for future generations to build upon through education, service, and fellowship in the local community and beyond.
Our Achievements
Kitchen and Building
Through fundraising efforts, the Women’s League has furnished a fully commercial kitchen within the building. This includes warmers, range ovens, 25-pound mixers, and commercial refrigerator/freezers. To ensure the building fund is maintained, the Women’s League contributes heavily to its utility costs.
Traditional Baking
More than three times a year, the Women’s League engages young and old in baking traditional Greek Kalymnian breads, pastries, and savory dishes to sell as fundraisers. These include Tsoureki (Long Braided Sweet Bread), Eftasmo (Sweet Anise and Sesame Seed Bread), Paximadi (Baked Rusks) and Koulouria (Braided Sweet Cookies).
